Banking

Jul 06, 2011

Getting paid with checks is a pain in the ass. I hate going to the bank more than I hate tofu burgers. Ok that’s a lie, tofu isn’t that bad. There’s nothing worse than when you’re in a hurry or have to be on a conference call in 30 minutes, and you had planned plenty of time to go to the bank, but the line is so backed up it takes 14 f’n hours to get through to deposit your one lousy check. I don’t like to make fun of old people, I love old people, but the old lady counting coins one by one was the best symbolism for a long slow line I could come up with. A long line isn’t frustrating because you’ve prepared yourself for the wait, you can pull out your cell phone and browse reddit for a while to pass the time. When you’ve been in line for 30 minutes, and you’re next in the queue, but the person in front of you is getting too chatty and forgetting to sign every thing ever… I feel like the flash here.

Dealing With Problems

Jul 13, 2011

So, I was at a loss of what to draw this week and I’ve been trying to stray away from always doing something super topical or illustrations that will just get lots of upvotes on reddit. Being creative on a weekly basis is kind of really hard, and I’ve been at it for over a year now. It’s difficult to maintain the same level of freshness and try new things when some of your back catalogue has become a big part of your success. You can really kill yourself if you analyze your site statistics too much, I get paid to look at google analytics all the time and decipher what it means for the site’s overall health and standing on the internet.

Speaking of working on websites for a living, that’s where the inspiration for the bear is from. A lot of times you have to just grit your teeth and let some things slides with clients, but it also doesn’t mean you should take things lying dow. The important part is that you always do it with a smile.

Batman is Messy

Jul 20, 2011

Seriously, Batman saves the day every time but all his investigations end up in major destruction to private property. I’ve been involved in a lot of restoration and renovation projects, from my time working construction, and they aren’t cheap. The janitors, glass merchants, masons and professional window washers have plenty of business in Gotham.

I’ve been playing a lot of Fallout: New Vegas the last week or so, it’s the perfect game to just sit down and mess with for an hour then get up and do something else. I’m starting to get the point where I’m slaughtering everything and I have to crank the difficulty up because I’ve cranked explosives so high I just pulverize all enemies in the unleveled quests I’m doing. Oh, and this paragraph about Fallout was to explain why the construction cartoon man is similar but legally distinct from Vault Boy. His layer in illustrator is called, “Construction Boy”.

More Concept, Less Comical

Jul 27, 2011

I’ve recognized a departure from some of the earlier work I’ve been doing for the last month. The change in style and tone has been mostly to help me have time to do all my web development projects I’ve been accumulated. I’m going to try and make more more art with silly concepts and back stories as well as more straight up WTF pieces. I have to respect all 12 of my fan’s devotion to the piece that convinced them enough to hang around.

Mr. Cheese just came to me in a shower, some times a image will just hit me that I can twist and apply to something else. It’s a really tragic story when you think about it, a man comes home from work and finds his wife and his dog have both been melted in a house fire. Drawing the melted cheese dog with the collar floating in it made me so sad, in fact, it kept me from putting children’s toys in the melt flowing from the windows. The concept of melted children was just too much sadness for my liking.

I really want a cheeseburger now.
