What's it called?

Sep 07, 2011

I had a dumb moment over the weekend where I was trying to describe this movie that came out in the early nineties and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I just kept going on and on talking about rough concepts that I remember that made absolutely no sense to anyone but me. Anyhow, this is what it would be like if my brain wrote the copy for a movie poster.

OH, JUDGEMENT NIGHT! That’s the name of the movie!

Kind of a Pun

Sep 14, 2011

Kind of not, but I keep getting random crap like this stuck in my head. I don’t know why some random play on words or ridiculous scenario gets stuck in my head. I don’t remember if I mentioned it or not, but Make it Tso was a pun that was stuck with me for years it seems.

This week marks just a little over a calendar year since I started doing these weekly drawings, I don’t know if they are any higher quality concept or comedy wise, but I feel like I’ve been able to crank out higher quality drawings in much less time. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are familiar with my earlier work and are quick to defend my copyright on Reddit. I guess it’s hard for me to imagine more than like 12 people that look at this thing. I can’t look at this stuff objectively after I create it, by the time I’m done drawing I almost want nothing to do with the damn thing. I guess I can’t really appreciate my own work, but it’s been long enough where even I can laugh at Make it Tso.

I saw this video of Tom Selleck’s mustache added to lots of famous movie characters. The clip of spiderman with the Selleck just clicked with me and I had to draw spiderman with a handlebar, and since he had a handlebar he needed to be all 1800’s gentlemanly and wear a top hat and be in a bare chested boxing match. I also took inspiration from Saxton Hale’s Australia shaped chest hair to complete Spidy’s retro manliness.

One two three, SHOOT!

There’s not a huge story behind this one, I think the picture really illustrates my thought process on if rock paper and scissors were in the same room at the same time.

I’m getting married the first week in October, so I’m doing double duty on drawings next week while I’m away on my honeymoon. I’ll have a wedding themed illustration for that week so prepare yourselves for something with some heart but still kinda funny.
